Malnutrition or hunger is one of the serious problems has widespread over the world, especially the underdeveloped and developing countries. Malnutrition is the condition in which people do not consume a sufficient amount of calories and nutrients from food.
Malnutriton or hunger can cause many problems as well as disease to people who have it. According to the World Health Organization, poor nutrition and calorie deficiencies cause nearly one in three people to die or have disabilities. In 2005, about 10.1 million children died before they reached their fifth birthday. Almost all of these deaths occur in developing countries, 3/4 of them in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, the two regions that also suffer from the highest rates of hunger and malnutrition. This disease has serious effects on children when they don’t receive enough nutrition to grow up. For example: In the developing world, 27% of children under 5 underweight, 10% are severely underweight, 10% of children under age 5 are seriously below weight for one’s height, and an overwhelming 31% are stunted, or seriously below normal height for one’s age. Hunger or malnutrition can also weakens the immune system, impairs physical and mental health, slows thinking, saps energy, stunts growth, hinders fetal development, and leads to infectious disease. Every day, almost 16,000 children die – approximate one child every five seconds- because of hunger and the diseases that related to hunger.
The hunger over the world has intensified day by day and if we don’t have any solution for this problem, the number of people who die due to hunger or all disease related to hunger will continue increasing.
